The PowerBirth workshop is an interactive birth preparation program taught over a single-day by one of our experienced midwives in a small group setting.
About PowerBirth Workshops
Our workshops empower you with the necessary knowledge to trust your body and feel confident for labour and birth. These classes are currently available in Melbourne and Sydney.
PowerBirth has a strong focus on supporting your body’s innate ability to birth and will provide you with information and strategies to relax, connect with your body and work with pain.
We also acknowledge that sometimes, birth doesn’t go to ‘plan’. Therefore, the course includes information on how to navigate common complexities and have a positive birth experience, no matter how it unfolds.
For birth partners, workshops are an incredible opportunity to absorb important information and learn how to take a proactive approach to supporting the process. PowerBirth equips you with the tools to step up as the ultimate source of confidence on the big day.

No. Hypnobirth Australia is a brand in it’s own right and the specific breathing and meditation techniques taught in that course are unique to that curriculum. PowerBirth does however include strategies for relaxation (including relaxation music and guided breathing tracks), preparing the birth environment in a way that is conducive to physiological childbirth, tips for advocating for yourself in the birth space and so much more.

Yes, PowerBirth can help you prepare for a VBAC by teaching you about the role of hormones in labour and birth, the ways in which your birth environment impacts processes of labour, the benefits of staying mobile and active, the different types of heart rate monitoring available and why each might be offered and more. While it is not a specific ‘VBAC’ course, this knowledge is highly valuable in supporting your birth goals.

No. While we do cover what to expect in an unplanned cesarean, the bulk of this course content is focused on labour & vaginal birth.

I recommend attending PowerBirth Workshop during your second or early third trimester, ideally somewhere between 25-35 weeks pregnant. That said, education at any stage of pregnancy is a great decision and if you would like to grab a spot you are MOST welcome.
